I think we are about to see a change in the commodity markets like we have never seen before, for three principal reasons – population growth, less arable land on which to produce food and climate change. Consider that last year the world only had 60 days worth of food reserves, January this year saw the commodities markets spiking out of control. Most big coffee roasters are moving out of buying on the futures market – just in case they can’t get a hold of the coffee 8 months down the line… it is all about securing your supply from here on! …. Time for a little creativity?
